The Botanical Society of China and the Shenzhen Municipal Government invite you to Shenzhen, China, in July 2017 to participate in the XIX International Botanical Congress (IBC2017).
China has a rich diversity of vegetation types, ranging from tropical rainforests in the south to taiga forests in the north, to tundra on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau, also known as the world's third pole. The continuous mountain ranges that stretch from the northeast to the southwest are not only evolutionary centers for young plant groups, but also refugia for ancient lineages. As one of the world's fastest-growing economies, China is also the world's fastest-growing supporter of scientific research. Recent decades have witnessed remarkable achievements in many scientific areas including plant sciences. China provides unique opportunities for the botanical visitor to experience an unforgettable assemblage of plants.
Shenzhen is a fantastic model of green urban development. The city has evolved from a small fishing village in the 1980s to a major international metropolis within three decades. Shenzhen is now a city of over 12 million people, the majority being immigrants from throughout China. The city is vital, creative, innovative and modern and is designed for fast growth. It has splendid cultural diversity and a range of events and activities that offer something for everyone. It is a beautiful green city with marvelous views of blooming street trees, nearby mountains, and shining seas.
The Botanical Society of China and the Shenzhen Municipal Government are eager to welcome plant scientists from around the world to the 2017 IBC for an intellectually stimulating and socially memorable occasion. The Botanical Society of China and the Shenzhen Municipal Government are eager to welcome plant scientists from around the world to the 2017 IBC for an intellectually stimulating and socially memorable occasion.
